For decades, Cambio Fellows have done research on the experiences of and responses to demographic change. A recent summary of the literature by Dr. Emily Crawford-Rossi on what educators can do when there are changes to policies that impact schools can be helpful for any social service agency. In addition, one of our regional community partners, the MICA Project for Migrant and Community Action, has put together a Standing Together guide that can help newcomers and allies understand their rights.
For here at the university, MU International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) has the following advice for visiting scholars and students:
It is important to keep documents up to date to maintain one’s immigration status. Please follow the points below, see more information here about maintaining one’s status, and check for future updates on the ISSS Insights page.
- I-20/DS-2019: Do not let this document expire and keep every I-20/DS-2019 issued to you for your records.
- Passport: This should always be valid at least six months into the future.
- I-94: Access online to print this document and carry it with you at all times.
- Visa: This document can expire while you are in the United States, but may need to be renewed if you plan to travel abroad and re-enter the U.S.
- Local address: Report any change of address in myZou within 10 days of moving.
