Gracias, from the Director

December 4, 2024

Dear Cambio Community,

During this time of giving thanks, we must say muchas gracias to our beautiful comunidad. Your work matters. You matter. Local governments and politics matter. Thank you for your continued strength, resilience, and partnerships.

Many of us do our work in Missouri or nearby. As of 2022, 4.1% of Missouri’s population was classified as foreign-born, and many more are the children of immigrants. Cambio’s research has shown how newcomers contribute their assets, culture, ideas, and love to create thriving communities. And various organizations and projects work alongside them. You can support this by:

  1. Please share the Cambio de Colores Call for Proposals with at least one friend today and encourage their participation in our annual conference, June 4-6, St. Louis. We are excited to announce Gilberto Pinela from the St. Louis Office of New Americans as one of our keynote speakers. He will share how to navigate challenging political times and policies in support of newcomers.
  2. Please nominate a colleague for our new Spark Change Award, to honor their important efforts focused on change, integration, and belonging.
  3. Donate to the Cambio Center, so we can offer scholarships specifically for students and community members who could not otherwise join in our mission.
  4. Get involved and learn what organizations and opportunities exist near you. To start, see this list compiled by the Missouri Office of Refugee Administration

Thank you again! Please reach out and let us know how we can continue to support you to meet our collective mission: leading research and outreach on immigration and integration in partnership with communities undergoing demographic change
